Check the license and concern
The official BSRB verification site identifies the board as the state licensing agency for psychologists, master’s-level psychologists, social workers, professional counselors, marriage/family therapists, addiction counselors and behavior analysts. These categories share a regulator, but have distinct credentials. Confirm the exact license and level before preparing a complaint, particularly for clinical social work, addiction treatment or a provider whose advertising says only “therapist.”

Match the route to the credential
Use the license listed in the practitioner’s records or official license lookup. A psychiatrist is a physician; psychiatric nurses have nursing credentials. Some psychologists have prescribing authority, so medication alone does not identify the licensing board.

- Get the Report of Alleged Violation (RAV) from BSRB’s current complaint page or 785-296-3240. Provide facts and supporting copies; keep originals.
- Mail the complaint and signed release with original signature pages to BSRB, 700 SW Harrison Street, Suite 420, Topeka, KS 66603. Phone or ordinary email does not replace this packet.
- Use a separate authorization for each relevant practitioner or entity. Patient/representative signature rules and any notarization remain unverified because the linked packet was not retrieved.

What this route may not provide
BSRB disciplines individual practitioners; it does not regulate employers, represent patients or obtain compensation. Program, insurer or employer concerns may require another route.

Do not guess about confidentiality
BSRB needs the signed release before contacting the practitioner, who can respond with patient information. Anonymous acceptance and public-file access remain unverified.

Ask promptly; investigation may take several months
No filing deadline was established. BSRB says investigations can take months; this is processing time, not a reporting extension or court deadline.

What may happen after filing
BSRB screens the report and may investigate. Its committee considers dismissal or discipline; the complainant receives a general written outcome with limited details.
