Care first. Seek urgent medical or dental attention for serious or worsening symptoms. Researching or preparing a complaint should never delay treatment.

Separate Psychology, Social Work, MFT/Clinical Professional Counseling, and Alcohol/Drug/Gambling boards

Psychology and social-work instructions checked; MFT current intake and addiction portal requirements limited. Some filing instructions were checked, but complete instructions for every listed credential have not been verified. Read the limits for your route.

Authority and scope

Check the license and concern

Nevada has separate boards for psychologists; social workers; marriage-and-family therapists and clinical professional counselors; and alcohol, drug, and gambling counselors. Psychology also covers its registered or provisional practitioners, assistants, interns, and trainees. MFT/CPC law includes licensed interns. The state directory lists Applied Behavior Analysis separately. Psychiatrist and psychiatric advanced-practice-nurse concerns use the medical and nursing guides.

Match the route to the credential

Use the license listed in the practitioner’s records or official license lookup. A psychiatrist is a physician; psychiatric nurses have nursing credentials. Some psychologists have prescribing authority, so medication alone does not identify the licensing board.

Checked steps and filing details to confirm

  • Psychology: sign its complaint and applicable records release, attach a detailed account and supporting material, and mail to 3080 South Durango Drive, Suite 102, Las Vegas, NV 89117, or email complaints@nvbope.net. Court-ordered service complaints have additional policies referenced on the page.
  • Social Work: its overview requires a signed written accusation and supporting documents. The current page links an online Accusation Form whose screens were not checked. Confirm delivery and authorization requirements at 775-688-2555. Its current page lists 4600 Kietzke Lane, O-264, Reno, while the older overview lists C-121.
  • MFT/CPC: current law requires a written, signed, verified complaint, with an original and two copies filed with the Secretary-Treasurer. The current board packet, delivery address, and any online alternative were not established; ask the board how to comply.
  • Alcohol/drug/gambling: the board links its own online complaint portal. Its signature, release, attachment, and delivery requirements could not be verified. Use that board’s instructions rather than Psychology’s packet.

Limits

What this route may not provide

These are individual professional routes. Confirm separate jurisdiction for a clinic or treatment program and for any private certification. MFT/CPC law permits professional sanctions including restrictions, suspension, revocation, and fines; those are not a promised payment to a patient. Consumer refund or compensation remedies were not established for these boards.

Anonymity

Do not guess about confidentiality

Psychology may give the complaint to the subject and cannot guarantee withholding information essential to investigation. Its form describes confidential investigation with possible public formal action. Social Work requires a signed accusation. Anonymous acceptance for these routes was not established. MFT/CPC disciplinary orders and findings are public; the addiction board’s disclosure rules remain unverified.

Complaint timing

No patient filing deadline established; processing estimates differ.

A filing deadline was not established by this check; ask promptly. Social Work warns a formal-hearing case may take 12–18 months or longer. MFT/CPC’s ten-year complaint-retention rule is not a ten-year filing deadline.

Process

What may happen after filing

Psychology reviews jurisdiction and may investigate. Social Work reviews, investigates, dismisses, or proceeds toward consent resolution or a hearing; testimony may be requested. Current practical investigation instructions for MFT/CPC and addiction credentials remain limited.
