The Mental Health Professions Board regulates professional counselors, clinical social workers, marriage/family therapists, addiction therapists, applicable provisional licenses, certified social workers, addictions practitioners/assistants and mental-health workers. The Psychology Board separately covers psychologists, psychological practitioners, school psychology specialists and behavior analysts. Choose by the person’s actual credential, not the clinic name.

Match the route to the credential
Use the license listed in the practitioner's records or official license lookup. A psychiatrist is a physician; psychiatric nurses have nursing credentials. Some psychologists have prescribing authority, so medication alone does not identify the licensing board.

- Open the correct board’s complaint page and use its linked Complaint Reporting form. Name the practitioner, your own contact details, dates, time and location, and any attorney or representative helping you. Provide a clear factual account, supporting document copies and witness contacts.
- Both forms must be signed and dated. They list 2001 Capitol Avenue, Room 127, Cheyenne, WY 82002. For help with submission or routing, both forms identify the compliance officer at 307-777-7764 or Amanda.Best@wyo.gov.
- The Mental Health Board links a separate Medical Release; confirm when it is needed. Its page specifically says a minor client must complete their own release and the legal guardian(s) must also complete a form. Obtain that release from the linked materials or the Board; its full text was not confirmed here.

What this route may not provide
Both boards direct complaints against individual professionals rather than facilities, clinics or corporations. Their checked instructions concern licensing action; authority to obtain refunds or damages was not established. Ask about a separate facility/program route. Psychiatrists and psychiatric advanced-practice nurses use the medical and nursing guides.

Do not guess about confidentiality
Neither board accepts anonymous complaints. Both forms warn that the professional receives the complaint and all supporting documentation to respond. The Mental Health Board describes investigation as confidential, including from the complainant, but board decisions involve a public vote. Do not equate investigation confidentiality with anonymity or protection from subject disclosure.

Filing deadline not established — ask promptly
No incident-to-filing deadline was established for either board. Both describe potentially extended processing depending on complexity and caseload. Preserve records and respond when contacted; no fixed completion date is promised.

What may happen after filing
Both boards acknowledge receipt, assign a complaint number, and may contact you or witnesses. An investigator recommends a disposition; the board votes at a public meeting and provides a written outcome. Mental Health outcomes may include dismissal, a private advisory letter or license discipline.
